A sports person’s practice, training and dedication are some of the most important factors that contribute to their overall performance. However, the facilities they use can also have a huge impact, especially if they aren’t suitable for the sport they’re playing. This is why MUGA pitches have become so popular, as they can be used for multiple different sports.Check this out:https://mugapitch.co.uk/

These surfaces are built using safe, durable materials that can provide quality sporting experiences and are accredited by the relevant governing bodies. This is why they’re a favoured choice in schools and other community facilities where safety is paramount.

Unlike actual grass, these facilities are low maintenance; there’s no need for intensive procedures like trimming and mowing. This also reduces the introduction of toxins into the environment, as well as the cost associated with water consumption. As a result, they’re environmentally friendly and are kinder to the soil.

MUGA Pitch Renovation: Tips for Selecting the Right Contractor

The method of construction will depend on the surface type chosen, with Type 1 and 2 MUGAs being constructed from open-graded, frost-resistant, porous macadam laid atop free-draining stone. The macadam is typically applied in two layers – a binding base layer for stability and strength and the playing surface layer. The base layer should be an average of 40mm compacted depth – and never less than 30mm at any point – with a nominal aggregate size of 14mm or 20mm.

Polymeric MUGA pitches, on the other hand, are constructed from a mix of resin and sand with an anti-slip coating. These surfaces are ideal for football and hockey, but can also be adapted for tennis and netball.
