Getting Your RIBO License

RIBO license is a licence issued by the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) that allows you to sell general insurance such as home, car or business. A RIBO licensed broker can offer product choices from multiple insurance companies and give advice to clients. They must be able to explain the details of coverage and advise on the most appropriate product for each client’s circumstances. URL pnclearning.com

Insurance brokers work under a principal broker who oversees the day to day operations of their brokerage. They also must meet certain professional and ethical requirements as outlined by RIBO.

The RIBO level 1 licensing exam is composed of 90 multiple choice questions and one short answer case study and must be completed in three hours. This exam is designed to cover the minimum required knowledge necessary for a RIBO broker to provide professional and competent services to their clients. The ILScorp RIBO Level 1 Program includes comprehensive online study material, practice quizzes and a review exam. It is delivered via streaming video and includes a complete policy wording booklet for the exam.

Demystifying the RIBO License: How to Obtain Yours

After completing a RIBO Level 1 license, you can apply to write the RIBO Unrestricted Technical Only or Management exam. To qualify for this level, you must be actively employed as a restricted broker under the supervision of a RIBO Level 2 or RIBO Unrestricted broker and have held a Level 1 restricted registration for at least two years. To obtain a full RIBO Unrestricted license, you must pass the RIBO Management exam and be able to run your own insurance brokerage as a Principal Broker.
